Gaming Corner: Yargis Spaceship Shooter Video Game Review + Giveaway

There are only a certain amount of video games that I’m really good at. Most of them are old school games like Pac-man, Dig-Dug, Tetris…you get the point.

When it comes to the newer games it’s touch and go but, whether new or old there’s one particular type of game that I was horrible at and that shooter games. No matter how hard I try I just can’t beat them.

I received Yargis to review and the minute I saw it was a shooter game, I handed it off to my son. He loves these type of games but, my son is pretty much like my daughter when I ask for a review on an item…it never happens.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, it is a computer game not a console game.
So, I basically had to download the game on my computer and test it out myself. That’s the first great thing about this game. You can load it on up to three computers with the same code so, multiple people in your family can have it and you can also play each other online.

Once the game was downloaded it was time to name my spaceship and get on with the game. The instructions are easy enough to follow. Hold the ‘W’ key to throttle and use the mouse to move the ship. The left button on the mouse is to shoot.

It was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I got up to the part where I had to race another ship and of course, I lost because no matter what, I will always suck at these type of games.

I do look forward to playing with  my son online because he revels in the fact that he can beat me and laughs hysterically at how horrible I am with moving and coordinating in games.

Like  most video games there’s a story that you can follow as you move through the levels. Here is the story about Yargis:

Yargis is a fast paced spaceship shooter game from the top view. Yargis is a pilot for the Earth military in the year 3013. Despite having explored far beyond Pluto and Alpha Centauri, no contact with alien life has been made. Until now.

An unknown species only known as the Mukka are attacking Earth and its inhabitants. It is up to Yargis to defend Earth and help uncover their fiendish plot while trying not to get blown to smithereens.
This is definitely and old school flashback type game though as far as the graphics go. It reminds me of the back in the day game ‘Asteroids’ which I also was horrible at playing. I’m guessing that’s the look they were going for so if you’re into retro games then you’ll love Yargis.

The game is still in Beta mode so there will be modifications and improvements as time goes on.
