Make a Mini Grocery Store with Clay! #GiftCreative @KlutzCertified

Playing with clay is always fun for kids and adults. You get lost in your own creations. Klutz is taking it up a notch with this adorable Mini Grocery Store set.

I was looking for something to do with Aaron since I was watching him this past Saturday. Klutz sent me a couple of kits for review. I really wanted to make the Unicorn Pillow, but Aaron is only 5 years old and it’s recommended for 10 years and up.

The Mini Grocery Store seemed more appropriate though it’s recommended for ages 6 and up.

Aaron was super excited. I asked him to look through the book and choose something he wanted to make. The first thing he chose was the pineapple. It was a lot of details, so I asked him to choose something else. He chose the tomato. I was happy because it seemed easy enough.

We followed the instructions and voila! He was so happy that he’d actually made a tomato.

We started looking through the book for the next thing to make and he stopped on a page that showed that you could make a smiley face grocery or a sad face grocery. Aaron started laughing hysterically at the thought of making a sad face clay figure and immediately opted to make a pizza. He wanted to make a sad face cheese pizza.

This is what he made.

He wanted to make another sad face pizza with the cardboard accessories that are included. This was his favorite creation as you can see by his face.

We went for a walk after that to actually get pizza and he took his ‘king mustache sad-faced pizza’ with him on the walk.

When we got back to the house he asked if he could make some clay groceries on his own. I told him sure and let him create by himself.

I was incredibly surprised when he showed me that he had followed the instructions in the book to make other fruits and veggies.

I thought it would be more difficult than it actually was to create the groceries. He managed to create a few of them on his own just by following the pictures since he can’t read. All with sad face…lol.

I love the mini-pineapple at the top. He really wanted to make the Pineapple first, but I thought it was too much (it was) and told him to pick something else. He chose the tomato. He made his own version of the pineapple. So cute.

This is such a great craft idea. He really enjoyed it and though it’s aimed for kids 6 and up, he had no problem following along with what to do and what tools to use because of the very easy and detailed picture instructions

I highly recommend this as a gift or for a family project on a rainy or snowed in type of day. I had a lot of fun helping Aaron make the groceries and then seeing what he created on his own by following the photos in the book.
