There’s always debate amongst people online that there is no good music out there anymore but, those of us with our ears on the pulse of what is new know that there is a lot of amazing talent in the independant music artist scene.
Up and comping Canadian artist Sofia Evangelina is a perfect example. She’s teamed up with great producers to bring forth her first single “This is Your Song” which she brings to life with her powerful and soulful voice.

Describe your music for those who have never heard it.
I really love pop, but my truest inspiration comes from RnB and soul and gospel and even some good old Motown. So my music tnd to combine their elements. I look up to music’s truest, classic divas like Etta James, Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin and my new day powerhouse queens like Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Mariah Carrey and more. Ever since I was very little I knew that I wanted to have a voice of power and essence to tell my stories and a huge range, to express myself and all that I am.
Tell us about your single “This is Your Song”.
“This Is Your Song”, is my very first original debut single just recently dropped worldwide, simultaneously with the official music video. I couldn’t be more excited to share a song that means so much to me, a song dedicated to my fellow youth to ignite their inner power to surpass their trial times and hardships, bullying, exclusion, whatever the case might be, adn live life on their terms and chase their dreams.
What inspired you to pursue music?
When I was younger I changed schools Several times and had observed ongoing issues youth going through, its bullying, exclusion, low self-esteem, loneliness. Then, for a few years traveling the world as a pro athlete, I have noticed that regardless country, culture, age group or demographics, the youth face plus minus the same problem and go through the same trials and life tribulations. Every issue resonated in me deeply and I felt the need to help. As an athlete, I was better equipped to understand the issue and how to address, and as a singer and a beginner-songwriter, I feel compelled to translate these feeling into my songs. Music is the most powerful medium out there and I hope my music can reach audiences of my fellow youth and help them navigate through the mazes of their teen lives. And writing music helps me to understand myself and the world around me better as well.
Greatest career accomplishment so far?
I have many nominations and I’ve won several awards, with began with Talent inc Overal Talent Canada in 2014, them I won several MIcs awards, including best R&B record of the year, and Best Music Video performance at Joey’s Young Entertainer.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Being brand new to the music business, breaking out into the scene.
I like to embrace challenges so this is a challenge

What is your music goal for the year?
There is so much coming…
I’m beyond honored and to be one of 16 artist ambassadors touring aboard The PSA School Tour, dedicated to evoking social change amongst the youth of today fighting against bullying and the major extreme detriments and hardships that kids are facing today.
Besides touring all around America, meet new fans, and contribute to the social change, I’m striving to develop myself as an artistic entity, a brand. And I have more music ready for the release, new songs are being produced or being written… I am excited
