What inspired you to create this book?
Well, my father inspired me to become a photographer. He was a sports and news photographer when I was growing up in Boston. I’d go on assignments with him and he’d show me how to hold the camera and explain what he was doing. And then when I started modeling as a teenager I would annoy the photographers asking questions about lighting or how they got certain shots.
Who is your favorite author & why?
As far as literature goes, I was named after Jessamyn West so I quite enjoy her short stories.
Describe”Horray for Pawllywood” in 30 words or less
It brings together my obsession of cinema with my lifelong love of animals, particularly dogs. It’s iconic movie posters and film reshot with dogs, and in one photo, a chicken, a cat, and a guinea pig, for example.
Why should we get your book?
Everyone loves cute animals. And movies are such a big part of everyone’s life. This is the best of both worlds. It’s really cute and really fun. I’m bringing these movies that shaped my life into my book. For example I recreated the Forrest Gump movie poster with a great dog named Theodore, Who goes by @thatdood_theodore on Instagram. All of the dogs are so amazing. My dog Mishka even makes an appearance as Cameron Diaz in There’s Something About Mary.
