As we move towards self-care, clean eating, yoga for exercise and meditation we are getting more intuned with our bodies and how it’s affected if we’re stressed or not in a good place. Author Julious Fletcher taps into that and more with his new book, “Lessons from the Human Body“.
We had a chance to catch up with the very busy Julious Fletcher for our Author Spotlight series to learn more about his new book and what he’s got in the works next. Take a moment to read the interview and get to know this multi-talented singer, dancer, actor and of course, author.
What inspired you to become a writer?
I always had a vivid and active imagination as a child. I would always write stories and poetry. I was also an avid reader and my mom used to read to me all the time. As I became older, I began to find my writing passion more intense.
Your favorite author & why
I would say Iyanla Vanzant because her books have helped me evolved into the man I am today, especially during a time in my life that I entitled my “Peace from Broken Pieces” season.
Describe your book in 30 words or less
It is a holistic book that analyzes the different human body systems and how they apply to our daily lives. It reviews life in a spiritual, emotional, and relational sense.
Why should we read it?
It helps us to review our lives and for us to be honest with ourselves about who we are, what do we want and how do we need to get there. It helps us understand healthy and unhealthy relationships; it explains what love is and it is clear that love is not abusive in any form (spiritual, emotional/mental, and physical). It also helps us understand how to identify broken boundaries as well as how to handle negative emotions such as shame, guilt, fear, disappointment, grief and denial. It explains that childhood trauma and historical pathology are the root of mental illness (depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc) and how to heal our traumas.
