Last time we connected with Jazz/Hip-Hop artist, Haph Breed aka Metamorphisis, he was serenading his wife on Valentine’s Day with his single, “Joy”. The talented artist is back with the third single from his new project ” Ira & Evan: The Legacy Continues”.
The new single “After Midnight” is a mellow jazz instrumental which is a move away from his last single which gave a taste of his melodic rap skills. We’re happy to have him back with us for our Music Spotlight Series and feel he brings a breath of fresh air to the indie music scene. We look forward to more from Haph Breed.
Tell us about “After Midnight”
The song was inspired by Quik’s Groove. This instrumental track is a smooth, flavorful hip-hop, soul and jazz combination.
This new single is a jazz instrumental. What made you go in that direction which is opposite of your last single where you were rapping.
I wanted to display my musical versatility as an artist. Jazz was the first art form that I fell in love with, and hip hop was the second. So I produced “After Midnight” (Breed’s Groove) to compliment both worlds with the help of a wonderful and talented sax player to grace the track.
Why should people check out your latest project?
“Ira & Evan: The Legacy Continues” is a very diverse project. It has rapping, singing, live instrumentation layered on top of some well orchestrated and melodic samples. The lyrics are positive and heartfelt. I wanted the youth and the older generation to embrace this project without any limitations so I decided to make this a non explicit project. It is a family affair.
What instruments do you play?
Keyboards, synthesizer, piano, and percussions.
Are you doing shows or looking to tour?
Yes. I have a show coming up on Memorial Day weekend. I will be performing at a festival in the city of Maywood.
