Let’s face it. Most kids have cell phones. It’s become a necessity with ever busy schedules and the need to constantly be in touch. You can monitor your child’s usage while they’re with you but when they are not in sight how do you keep track of what they’re doing on the phone. Has this caused you to hesitate on even getting them a phone even though it would make communication much smoother?
Would you consider using a parental control app to monitor their texts, calls and web surfing? I wish I had a way to monitor my daughter’s phone when she racked up $400 in text messages.
What methods do you use to monitor your child’s phone? You can restrict certain features like texting and internet access but, these days, those are very necessary features. It’s easier to send a text versus a call to mom or dad who may be in a meeting at work and they might need to look up directions but won’t be able to if web access is unavailable.
Or you can download an app like Family Orbit that tracks your child’s phone for you just like you monitor their internet access on the home computer.
Family orbit allows you to monitor more than just text messages and calls. You can also track website visits, photos, who they add to their contact lists and even monitor interactions in other apps like WhatsApp.
It also has the following features:
GPS Tracker: Know where your child is at all times.
Limit Screen Time: This is very handy when your child’s face is glued to the phone when they should be doing homework or spending time with family.
Parental Control: You can restrict access to certain features at any time and reinstate them. This is a great feature if they are punished.
While some of the monitoring might seem extreme for older kids who can be trusted with a little bit more flexibility and freedom, I feel that the vast options are great. Like I said above, I wish the Family Orbit App was available when I first purchased a phone for my daughter. My life and bank account would have been better for it.
The Family Orbit App is available for iOS 8.0 – 11.x and Android 4.2 – 7.x. Visit their website for more information.
