Every once in a while I’ll get a toy for review that is so adorable that it makes me wish I was a kid again. I am officially adding The Talkies by Toymail – Nunu the Unicorn to that list. This adorable stuffed toy is not your ordinary doll. It is a safe way for your kids to communicate with you via voice messages without needing to get them a phone.
The Talkies by Toymail was originally featured on Shark Tank and successfully received funding. This great concept was thought up by best friends Gauri and Audry who wanted to create a toy that could be used as a communication device by kids.
Every single parent that I have shown the Talkie to says that they want one for their child because they don’t want to get them a phone but want to still be able to communicate when possible. Parents who travel for business especially love the concept.
The Talkies by Toymail take 4 double A batteries that go in the white box you see above. That box goes inside the Talkies by Toymail and is zippered up.
Once you insert the batteries a red light will flash on the box. You have to download an app from ToyMail.co onto your phone and register your phone and the toy. Once that is done you connect the Talkies by Toymail to your wifi via the app and then pair the toy with your phone like you would do with any other bluetooth device. That process will take about 5 minutes but, then you’re set.
You can add as many people to the Talkies by Toymail contact list so mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and even aunts and uncles can chat with your child. You can watch the video I made above to see the Talkies by Toymail in action.
