Switch Witch Saves #Halloween for Kids with Food Allergies

Switch WitchEvery year hundreds of thousands of kids head out in their costumes to trick-or-treat for Halloween. It’s great fun with the best part being when they get to look over their loot and pick out their favorites and enjoy the sugar rush. Unfortunately, kids who have mild to severe food allergies can’t partake in this part of the fun but, Switch Witch is here to save the day.

Switch WitchDeveloped by award winning author Audrey Kinsman. The idea came about when one of her own sons was trick-or-treating. After seeing his disappointment in knowing that he would not be able to eat most of the candy due to a food allergy, the idea of “Switchcrafting” the candy he was allergic to came to life.

Switch Witch Story

Switch Witch

The story goes that Switch Witches need the candy to heat their homes so your little ones leave the candy they are allergic to out for the switch witch and they come and replace it with edible candies, goodies or toys.

I think it’s an adorable concept and a fun way to teach your child alternatives to their food allergies and that they too can still have fun. I also love that they are partnered with The Teal Pumpkin Project and that the toy/book combo set helps bring awareness to kids with allergies and help promote a better Halloween experience for all.

Oh, what does Switch Witch do with all of the candy? With your help she donates it to Operation Shoebox.

How have you handled food allergies on Halloween with your child in the past?
