I recently had surgery, and it’s pretty much relegated me to the couch. As I’m on the road to recovery, I have binge-watched every baking, cooking, and chef competition. That’s all I have the physical energy for right now so, I’m glad they’re mentally stimulating. Somehow, I’m incredibly hungry. I wonder why?
I’ve also been cleaning up my blog and socials and was surprised that I completely missed posting about this incredible book and author.
It fits the theme of all the shows I’ve been watching so I thought, better late than never.
The book is “The Healthy Rebel: I Learned It from My Friends” by Jessica M. Pfeufer. She wrote the cookbook based on her childhood passion for collecting recipes and inspiration from her friends’ recipes.
Jessica M. Pfeufer is a Mom, Chef, Author, and Speaker. She is also a Certified Health and Nutrition Coach. You can visit her nutrition coaching website and reach out to her at TheHealthyRebel.com.
I had the opportunity to interview Jessica and talk about her book.
Check out her interview below about her first of many books and her life as an author and chef. Plus, find out what celebrity author she’s had the pleasure of cooking for.
What inspired you to become a writer?
I’ve been cooking food all my life and I wanted a way to share the recipes I’ve learned from friends and family with the rest of the world. Cooking is life and food is best shared with the ones you love.
Who is your favorite author & why?
David Baldacci. I absolutely love mysteries and thrillers and anything that keeps me on the edge of my seat. I’ve also cooked for him and his family in a private setting in Napa CA.
Describe “The Healthy Rebel: I Learned It from My Friends” in 30 words or less:
This book has been a journey into cooking (as well as) a tribute to friends long gone and to the ones still inspiring me. Recipes are meant to be discovered, shared, and experienced with the people you love. It brings people together in conversation and laughter.
Cooking is an expression of one’s soul in creativity. So, as a reminder to all, if someone makes a dish you can’t stop thinking about or want to share with everyone you know, don’t hesitate to ask them how to make it. Write it down, learn it, and share it! It is what food is all about! It’s EXACTLY why I began the journey of “I learned it from my friends!”
Why should we read it?
It’s a fun book filled with nutritional information as well as stories of cooking. If you like to cook, this book will help you get started and organize your cupboards to cook what you like and how you like.
What books have influenced your life most?
All cookbooks, travel books, and books on history.
What’s next for you as an author?
