The Zeso Super Fisheye Phone Camera Lens Kit is probably one of the coolest attachments I’ve seen for a phone and probably one of the most fun gadgets I’ve had the chance to review in a minute.
When I was a little girl, I was a pretty good photographer. No, really. I learned from my dad. He loved taking photos and though his brother (my Uncle Ness) was known as the “Photographer” between them, my dad’s skills were not too shabby and he had the patience to teach me.
I remember going to Niagra Falls and him showing me how to hold the camera at just the right angle and to hold the shutter down for longer than necessary so the film would over-expose. He promised that the photos, once developed would be amazing and he was right. The night sky was captured perfectly and the lights that surrounded the falls for tourists to have a clear view at night were perfectly blurred to give Niagra Falls an even more magical look.
I was proud of those photos, so much so, that I took photography lessons and even learned to develop my own film in the dark room.
Like most childhood passions, my love for photography was overshadowed by other hobbies as I got older and eventually it hit the back burner as other things demanded more time. I’ve taken hundreds of photos since then but never with an artistic purpose until recently when I got my Iphone 6s. I suddenly find myself wanting to capture those perfect photos and try different angles and filters, wide lense, panoramic lense and yes, even fisheye lens so I was pretty stoked to get a phone camera lens kit from Zeso to try out.
My first thought was, “Does a phone really need actual lense attachments when there are so many apps available out there”? I think I saw an app for $1.99. I decided to ask my friend who takes amazing camera and phone photos and has a pretty kick ass Instagram. I was pretty sure he tried at least some apps and I was right.However, he was not impressed saying the apps weren’t really good and that he’d been trying to get his hands on a kit.
The Zeso Super Fisheye Phone Camera Lens Kit has three (lenses): a fisheye lens, wide angle lens ad macro lens. Each lens has a lens cap which I think is just adorable. The kit fits in a little travel box that also include a waterproof pouch. It’s lightweight so you can throw it in you back pack or put it in your pocket. It even comes with a metal latch that you can attach to your keychain or belt loop. It’s a beautiful kit that will make a great gift and it’s so affordable at less than $25. Plus you can easily purchase it on amazon.
I have to play around with the lenses some more but, I loved the few test shots that I took. They are the ones at the top of this post. I have to get used to the macro lens. The pictures came out blurry but, I know that’s because I have to focus on an object that’s at a distance.
I know I keep referring to it as a ‘phone camera kit’ but, you can use it on your laptop, ipad, tablet, adroid phone or iPhone. It fits on any device since it’s just an attachment.
