I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Zendaya when she was previewing her upcoming shoe collection at the Titan suites a month ago and I can tell you that she is an absolute doll. So, it’s only fitting that Mattel is honoring the multi-talented actress with a Barbie doll in her likeness.
The doll commemorates her iconic Vivienne Westwood look from the 2015 Oscars Red Carpet where she inspired people of all ages to stand up for themselves.
“I’m excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices,” said Zendaya. “It’s a positive message to send to my fans, including my nieces who are coming with me to the concert.”
Barbie presented the doll to Zendaya on September 26 at the Barbie™ Rock ‘N Royals Concert Experience at the Hollywood Palladium and she took to Instagram to post a photo:
I think that the doll would sell out if they made it available to the general public. As someone who used to collect designer Barbie’s extensively, this doll would definitely bring me out of ‘Barbie Collector” retirement.
