Interview with Singer/Songwriter Chance Blair
Describe your music for those who have never heard it.
My music is on the realm of an electronic/urban Phil Collins.
Tell us about your new single ‘Jersey Girl’.
Jersey Girl is a song I made for my girlfriend who’s grinding in Jersey and trying to get into medical school. I feel like there are many girls like my girlfriend who are on their grind and I felt like they deserve a song. So Jersey Girl is my version of Drakes “Fancy”.
What inspired you to pursue music?
Happiness. Music for me equals happiness. Like any human the pursuit of happiness is the main goal and I feel that with making music I am reaching that goal.
What has been your greatest career accomplishment so far?
I would have to say my greatest career accomplishment is being featured on this blog.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been preforming a song about my mother who passed at one of my performances at home.
Who is your favorite artist?
My favorite artist is Kanye West and I became a fan as soon as I listened to his album 808’s and Heartbreak. His mother passed around the same time my mother did and this album musically articulated the grief I was experiencing at the time.
What’s your career goal for the year?
To be on all of your readers playlist.
