Director Darren Wilson sets out to make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan, no script, no safety net — just go wherever he feels the Spirit leading him to try and discover the adventure God has for him.

The Lenny Kravitz aspect is the easiest and most obvious to explain. I love the man as a lot of women do so getting the opportunity to see him on camera for however long is a bonus.
The second was the actual premise. So, you mean to tell me that this guy was actually going to travel around and film an entire movie based on the ‘Holy Ghost’ with no script or set destination in mind?
Crazy isn’t it? Well, that’s exactly what he did. I’d like to point out that ‘crazy’ is a word that comes up a lot in this movie but, I’ll get back to that.
First, I have to jump ahead a little bit to the part of the movie that impacted me the most. Oddly enough it was the whole segment with Brian ‘Head’ Wench and his group Korn. Even if you don’t feel compelled to see a movie called “Holy Ghost”, this segment is worth the watch. I had goose bumps watching it.
I don’t really know the history of Korn so, I had no idea that Wench was saved or anything. That doesn’t matter, it’s everything that happens and is said by him and band member that makes such an impact. It’s almost crazy if you really stop to think about it.
There’s that word, crazy. A lot of people describe their experiences in the movie as ‘crazy’ and not just the things that happened while filming but, things that lead them to where they were and the mere ‘coincidences’ or things that happen by ‘chance’.
The Holy Spirit takes director Darren Wilson to many places including Monaco (must be nice). It also leads him to one of the holiest cities in Varanasi which is where Buddhism and Hinduism were birthed.
That part made me a little uncomfortable because though it seemed like the message in the earlier segments of the movie was more about the spirit moving freely, this seemed like they were forcing their way into someplace they shouldn’t be just to say that they did. It didn’t seem very Christian-like. It seemed more of an intrusion. Just keep it moving to the next.
Oh, and Lenny Kravitz gives his take on what he feels is the Holy Spirit as do a few other people who are interviewed throughout the film.

Whatever way you choose to look at it or define it this was really a better movie than I thought it would be. It’s not that I didn’t think it would be bad, I just thought I’d have a hard time sitting through it and that it would be dripping in religious ‘come to Jesus’ moments. The movie is called “Holy Ghost” after all.
The point of the movie is to prove that the Holy Spirit is real. Whether it does that will really depend on each individual person that watches it and what they get out of it. I’m sure the director and those who were involved in the film feel that they accomplished their goal.
I certainly felt it while watching the movie and the message is very parallel to things I’m going through now so, I’m right there with them.
