“Music is my life and I just want to rap and show the world my creativity”
Hip hop artist TaRell TymeS, maybe new to the music scene but, he’s focused and sure on the sound and influence he wants to convey to his listeners.
Influenced by 90’s hip hop grooves of rappers like A Tribe Called Quest, Nas and Pharcyde, TaRell shares that he, “just wants to write music that people can chill to”.
His latest single “Slow It Down”, which has been getting a lot of great feedback, gives you that chill vibe he’s looking to bring back with songstress Alissa Feudo lending her vocals on the chorus.
TaRell TymeS, who is from Virgina by way of Maryland shared the song with us and also took a minute to answer some questions for our Indie Spotlight Series.
Q & A w/Hip Hop Artist TaRell TymeS
(TaRell TymeS) Terrell (TaRell) is my first name & TymeS comes from me wanting to be remembered forever “timeless” music. Like the great artists & leaders that came before me. I want my words to still mean something 50 years from now.
Describe your music for those who have never heard it.
My music is the thoughts of a misunderstood teen. It’s the thought, the confusion, the chill, the hype, the loneliness, the fun. Everything that a teenager goes through. That’s my sound.
What inspired you to pursue music?
I just wanted to be good at something, then when I found out I was good at it, I wanted to be a voice for everyone like me & inspire.
What has been your greatest career accomplishment so far?
Putting out my first real single “Slow It Down“. Also, just meeting new people & gaining fans along the way.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Staying positive at all times. I try my hardest because I wanna move fast, but sometimes you just have to be cool & slow down.
Who is your favorite artist right now?
My favorite artist would have to be Kid Cudi because his music is him & I can relate to everything he says. Negative or positive, I feel where he’s coming from & that’s how I want people to feel about my music.
