When I’m out and about with my laptop and need to get some work done I’m always searching for open and free WiFi. I often go to free co-working spaces around the city where there is free WiFi without needing to purchase a cup of coffee.
I don’t think twice about connecting and smile with glee when I see the green internet bars go up. I try not to log in to important sites like my bank account or any site that asks you to click if you are on a public computer. Wouldn’t public WiFi technically be the same thing as being on a public computer?
It made me wonder how important data security really is to most of us or do we just take it for granted? Maybe some people think ‘Who would want to hack me, I’m not important’ when the truth is most hackers go for the average everyday unsuspecting person because we are less likely to notice a hack right away.
I watched this video from Private WiFi and started to wonder if it would make sense to have a service like this for peace of mind.
It encrypts your information on a level equivalent to banks and government sites.
I think if you’re someone who taps into public wifi often which is most of us in major cities, then this would be a beneficial.
It works on all of your devices so you can easily download the app to your laptop, cell phone or tablet.
Here’s the nitty gritty on Private WiFi:
- Installs quickly
- Compatible with Android, Iphone, Mac & PC
- Protect up to 5 devices
- Sets up a VPN (virtual private network) and hides your IP
- Encrypts and protects at high security levels equivalent to banks and government sites (128-bit data security).
- You can try it free for 10 days
