I love testing out new gadgets. They’re my favorite item to review. The more technologically advanced and connected they are to other every day equally technological things the better.
I was particularly excited to receive WeightGurus Smartphone Connected Digital Bathroom Scale because I’d planned to just buckle down and get completely fit for the summer starting on my birthday, June 5th. So, is bound to become my best friend or my worst enemy as the summer progresses.
Show or hide your actual weight.
One of the great features is the 2 setting options.
True Weight Option – When you step on the scale today, tomorrow or the next day it will show your regular weight like a normal scale and you can calculate your loss or gain in your head.
Loss or Gain Option – In this setting the scale will take the first weight your entered and every day after that when you step on it, it will show the number of pounds lost or gained rather than show your actual weight.
This is good for people who are shy about showing their actual weight and also helpful for those who obsess on the actual number rather to guide them to focus on being proud of the actual pounds lost.
Smartphone compatible.
Weight Guru is built to connect to your smartphone via an app. It’s compatible with both Iphone and Android. I have an android phone. The app was easy to download and setting up the scale was very easy.
I stepped on and weighed myself. Once that was done I tapped the ‘sync’ button that’s on the scale and the ‘sync’ button in the app. The camera phone comes on and you just aim it at the scale and ‘snap’. It’s that simple.
This is a screencap from my phone of the app with my information:
What happens if you don’t have a Smartphone?
You don’t have to sync the scale to your phone at all. It’s your choice.
This is a new company so, the potential is limitless on where they go with this technology and the app.
At $29.99, the price is comparable to other bathroom scales that aren’t smartphone compatible. They come in 4 different colors. I chose black.
I’m going to continue using it through the summer to track my weight loss and may even post updates periodically in my newsletter.
Here’s some things I’d like to see in the future:
– Food Tracking
– Workout Tracking
– Sync with friends
– Sync with other fitness apps
