I have officially become one of those biking Brooklynites. I avoided getting one for a long time because it had been quite some time since I had ridden a bike and besides, despite our rampant complaining, NYC has one of the best public transportation systems around.
I finally caved in for the sake of exercise and after a couple of awkward spins in my neighborhood with a lot of sidewalk riding, I finally felt comfortable enough to hit the streets and go for longer rides.
Pretty soon my bike went from ‘for exercise purposes only’ to ‘the easiest way to get from point A to B’. The only thing I didn’t do was ride at night. I didn’t have adequate bike lighting to do so and just never had the opportunity.
That is until, I decided to ride to a friend’s event and stayed until it was dark. I got into an accident that night and thought two things:
I should have worn my helmet
I should have had a light on my bike
This was around September of last year and luckily I wasn’t two hurt, just a bruised, broken glasses and a very black eye.
I didn’t really ride too much again after that but, the summer is here and the itch to ride was back.
It also helped that I got a couple of cool gadgets to test out on my bike and review for the blog so it was officially time to dust it off and put it back on the road.

One of those cool gadgets I received to test out is the LumenX two-in-one Bike Headlight. It’s basically a small flashlight that mounts onto your handle bar. This is great.
I wish I’d had this light the night I had my accident. You can be sure that wherever I go this little gadget will be mounted on my bike from now on.
Here are the things I love about the Lumenx Front Bike Light:
- Can be mounted and dismounted easily.
- Can be removed from the mount and used as a mini handheld flashlight
- You can adjust the light power from normal up to x2000 brightness
- Includes FREE clip-on rear tail light ($15 value)
- It’s less than $30
Would I purchase this item with my own money?
Absolutely. I wish I’d had this sooner. I recommend that everyone get a light for their bike as soon as they purchase it and if you have a bike now and don’t have a light for it then go ahead and purchase the Lumenx Bike Light now on Amazon.com.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
