Authors, publishers and husband and wife duo Ronald and Juanita Destra are focused on the same goal, publishing children’s books that inspire, teach and are fun to read.
Ronald has had success already with his first book ‘Hoppythe Frog’. This time around he collaborates with Juanita to make it a family affair with their adorable new book ‘Fluffy The Bird’ which they self-published under Destra World Books Publishing .
We had a moment to chat with Jaunita and Ron about their new book and ask them 5 quick questions as part of our author spotlight series:
What inspired you to become a writer?
Ronald: My English teacher.Every Friday we usually participated in an essay contest and most of the times I come out in first place. The teacher would present my paper certificate to me and it was a great deal of accomplishment for me back then. She always reminded me how special I can be if I put my mind to it.
Juanita: My parents, high school teacher and most definitely, my husband. Ronald gave me the courage to believe in myself.
Who is your favorite author?
Ronald:I have so many. I would be here all day trying to names all of them. But I love authors whose books help stimulate my mind.
Juanita:My favorite author is Ronald Destra. I enjoyed his first book Hoppy the Frog. I recommend this book to parents and guardians with pre-teens ages 8-12 years old. Why? Honestly, first, he is my husband but, also, his book inspires, motivates and encourages kids.
Describe your new book “Fluffy The Bird” in 30 words or less
Take a journey with Fluffy the Bird as he discovered his purpose in life- discovering his talent & opening up a world of possibilities for children.
What other books have you written?
Ronald: My first published book was also a children’s book called ‘Hoppy the Frog’. I have written many children’s books that I am slowly sharing them with the world.
Juanita: Fluffy the Bird is my first published book. But rest assured, the world will hear about my next book soon that will also be self-published through Destra World Books Publishing.
What are the last three books you read?
Ronald:The last three books I read, The Isis Paper, The World Best Kept Secret and The Strawmen. These books just get you thinking on another level.
Juanita: I read Hoppy the Frog, Think Like a Man, and I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings.
