♫ Indie Spotlight: Richie Luna Presents “Celebrate!” (The Call to Light) (Video + Interview)

I want to be the change that MJ was. I am trying my best to do so as best as I can.

If you’re looking for something to jumpstart your weekend or day, to boost your mood or you just want to smile from ear to ear than look no further than the song “Celebrate” (Call to Light) by an International recording artist disguised as a superhero named Richie Luna whose goal is to spark a global revolution turned celebration, fueled by his positive music, energy and dance.
I seriously cannot get enough of it. The video is 10 minutes long but, so worth it. He takes it back to the days when Michael Jackson would make a video and it would be viewed as an event.
This song and video which impressively premiered on Yahoo Music is an ‘event’ and it will leave you in a great mood which is what music should do.
Richie Luna is a unique artist and I’m looking forward to seeing his star rise which is why I’m happy to share his video and have a chat with him as part of our indie spotlight series.
Check out this awesome 10 minute mini-movie music video for his infectious song “Celebrate” and check out his interview below.

What does your name mean?
Richie Luna is a Superhero Character that comes from the moon – He has the power to generate moonlight energy with the main intention to light up the darkness of the world – through his positively charged music and videos.
Describe your music for those who have never heard it.
It’s really difficult to describe my genre. Many music critics internationally are calling it “world music”, while others find it difficult to place a specific genre on my music and they say that it is a totally different unique style and approach.
When producing music, I always strive to be different and dynamic; combining an array of completely unique elements into one single musical piece.
Primarily my music has a major element of Dance / Electronic Pop fused into its backbone. From there it just takes on a whole new organic form of its own.

What inspired you to pursue music?
When I was a young kid I loved to dance and perform for big crowds at different family events. The DJ would incite the crowd to find “Richie” and get him onto the middle of the dance floor. As nervous as I would be with so many people surrounding me, once the music started, it was all pure flowing positive energy from there.

Ever since, the sound of music took me from a sad to a happy place. That is when I truly knew in my heart that it would be a dream come true to be a successful artist.

What has been your greatest career accomplishment so far?
Being able to successfully complete the production and launch of the full music video for “Celebrate!” (The Call to Light).  It took me years to turn that milestone into a reality.

It was truly constant hard work, focus, determination and many difficulties encountered yet overcome in order to achieve that objective to our clear epic vision.
What took it even further for me was the fact that the music video was headlined and premiered on the front page of the mega popular Yahoo! Music Entertainment website alongside other major international artists. That was truly a memorable moment.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Apart from the “technicalities” of production, ensuring that every note of my audio and pixel of my video are as best as they can possibly be, the biggest challenge for me is being a totally independent, unsigned artist.

I know many people say that the “heart and soul of creativity comes from the independent” which is completely true because an independent artist is exactly that “independent”. There are no limits or caps placed on the creativity levels that can be nurtured and developed. However, the fact remains that the music business is not the most rewarding one for artists on a whole (far less an independent unsigned artist).

I have basically had to find a solution for every single step of the way moving forward in my artistic career. This has proven to be and still remains the biggest challenge for me.
At the end of the day, the sad reality is, if it does not make dollars then it does not make sense.

Who is your favorite artist?
For me Michael Jackson was and still is the most amazing artist to ever live. He was and will always truly be “The King”.  MJ did what nobody else dared to do. He broke boundaries when people told him he couldn’t. MJ changed the game forever. Everything you see now is a derivative of The King.

MJ inspired me to use my artistic ability to create art that positively impacts our world and our society.

When you go back in time and compare the messages of Michael’s work versus what is currently out there, it’s like two totally different worlds. Two totally different spaces in time.

I want to be the change that MJ was and I am trying my best to do so as best as I can.
