“Writing allowed me to find inner peace, solace and in many ways process life.”
Living a childhood of abuse and torture will make some people want to give up or just get by quietly but, Katherine Svoi Symthe took the challenges of her childhood and is using it to help others and through that process healing herself from the years of abuse.
In her latest book, Unbreakable -The Story of the Unrelenting Spirit of Katherine Svoi Smythe, she talks about her childhood and what she endured, how she got through it and how it’s affected her in adulthood.
We had a chance to speak with Katherine as part of our author spotlight series about her new book and what motivates her to write.
What were the last books you read?
The Purpose Driven Life By Rick Warren allowed me to really realize that I have a mission and to connect to the journey of life.
Spirit Driven Success By Dani Johnson helped me connect to my journey and taught me how to keep it that way.
What inspired you to become a writer?
I have been writing since I was a child when I was abused and tortured.
Writing allowed me to find inner peace, solace and in many ways process life. Many victims often find something that helps them heal. Writing was that vessel that gave me joy and provided a voice to my inner well being.
Who is your favorite author?
Dani Johnson is one of my favorite authors because she utilizes her life story so that others can succeed.
Describe your new book Unbreakable:
It’s 49 shades of Symthe. A terrifying, enthralling and soul-shaking read that just might change you for life. I grew up in horror that most of us could not comprehend even a fragment of: sold for sex as a child, abused in every way imaginable by her family, and living in squalor and adjacent to animal abuse from birth.
Now, as an adult, I recount the process of dealing with those memories and how that childhood trauma continues to affect my relationships later in life.
