Happy Record Store Day!
You may or may not have seen the buzz on the internet these past couple of weeks leading up to Record Store Day. I even mentioned it briefly myself the other day when I was talking about cassette tapes.
If you have heard chatter about it and are wondering what it’s all about then you’ve come to the right place.
If you know what it’s all about, you’ve still come to the right place because I will point you in the right direction to celebrate near you.
What is Record Store Day?
It’s a concept that was started in 2007 when a bunch of independent record store owners decided to pick a day and celebrate the mom and pop shops that bring all you old school and new school vinyl collectors the records you want and need.
It’s basically a day to come out in support of your independently owned record shops aka local small business owners and get some great music in the process.

How Do I Celebrate Record Store Day?
You can celebrate by visiting a local shop. If you’ve always wanted to start a record collection or spice up an existing collection, today is a great day because there will be tons of vinyl on sale.
There are plenty of indie shops participating and most of them have something special planned for the day like a DJ spinning and maybe a party like atmosphere.
They even have a website that shows you all of the stores that are participating so you can easily find one near you.
If there isn’t one near you then maybe you can check out one of the online stores.
Or hey, why not break out your record player, dust of some vinyl and get your Tom Cruise ‘Risky Business’ on in the comforts of your living room.

However you decide to celebrate enjoy, have fun and please touch the needle to the vinyl responsibly.

As for me, I’m going to keep it Brooklyn local and head to Halcyon the Shop where my friend DJ Domewrecka will be spinning.
