The 3rd annual CBGB Music and Film Festival will run from October 8th– October 12th in NYC with the grand finale, a FREE concert, taking place in Times Square.
Get ready for music, games, food, fun and pumpkin smashing as the 3rdannual CBGB Music & Film Festival takes over Manhattan and surrounding boroughs starting October 8th and ending with a massive 6 block concert spectactular on October 12th in the heart of the city, Times Square from 10:00am to 7:30pm.
Devo and Jane’s Addiction are the featured performers. Did I mention Jane’s Addiction? Any opportunity to see Dave Navarro up close and personal is a damn great treat if I do say so myself.
There will be two main stages set up in Times Square and between them will be 6 blocks of FREE activities including: rock climbing wall, surf simulator, Guitar Hero challenge, classic arcade games, a “dunk the punk” tank, cupcake building, a smashing pumpkins booth dedicated to children to literally smash pumpkins (not the group) and more.
In the spirit of CBGB, there will be a photo graffiti wall, 2 acoustic stages, and free haircuts, styling and temporary tattoos by Rudy’s Barbershop. The salon’s lounge waiting area will also be serving iced coffee courtesy of Caffe Vita. The Red Bull skate ramp and Two Boots Pizza’s pizza eating contest are back again this year.
EXPRESS will be the official sponsor of the VIP artist lounge on Sunday, October 12th during the CBGB Times Square event. EXPRESS will create an interactive environment that showcases the brand’s modern, sexy style. Interactive beach themed activities including a mobile beach station, cabanas, a velcro jump wall and photo areas will be hosted by The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitor’s Bureau as part of their Hello Sunny campaign.
Road Recovery, NYC’s All Stars Project, Bobbi & the Strays, Swab a Cheek, Save a Life, and more will participate in this year’s charity awareness row.
During the five day festival you can catch hip hop artists, rock, pop and pun bands at more than 50 venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Featured artists include Jane’s Addiction, Devo, Dirty South, Robert Delong, Billy Idol, Surfer Blood, We Are Scientists, Cheeky Parade, Face the King, Midnight Mob, Ex Cops, Walking Papers featuring Duff McKagan and many more.
Hip hop artist Talib Kweli will be doing a DJ Set too and I’m guessing it will be at a venue in his home borough of Brooklyn.
