Tell us about your new single Safe and Warm (Lullaby for Jesus)

“Safe and Warm (Lullaby for Jesus)” is a song about my gratitude for Jesus always taking care of me, even when there is so much in the world that needs attention. He still never forgets me. Life is life and it’s not always easy so sometimes we can feel alone and lost. But in those moments I always turn my heart to God and it feels like he still rocks me like a baby, comforting me and letting me know He’s got me in the palm of His hand. So I wrote this song of thanks to Him.

What inspired you to pursue music?

I always had a love for singing and making up melodies as far back as I can remember. When I learned the guitar at a young age, I instantly gravitated to songwriting and naturally went down that path and just fell in love with it. Music can connect people and take them out of their daily mind-box, opening them up to something lighter and bigger than themselves. I love that about music.

What has been your greatest career accomplishment so far?

Staying true to myself, even if that means taking the long road sometimes. I’m also very grateful that my music video “Delightful” is a 50-time international film award winner.

What has been your biggest challenge?

One of my biggest challenges in my career and just in life in general has been living in the moment, as opposed to putting too much emphasis on the past or worrying about the future. Not appreciating and really realizing the ‘now’ only adds stress to your reality that’s unnecessary. I’ve definitely been more conscious about the present moment this year and it takes away pretty much any ‘challenge’ I think I might be facing.

What is your music goal for the year?

One of my goals this year has been to work on finishing up writing my next album so I can start recording it some time next year. I’m really excited about the progress of my new songs. Things tend to happen in waves. Last year I was hyper focused on touring, but this year I’m more in the writing bubble and it feels nice to give my new songs more proper attention. Having said that, I’m enjoying taking my time with this album, letting it breathe and come together organically without pushing it with any deadlines. I think the result is going to pay off and I’m excited for people to hear my new material. I’m also promoting my holiday album, Home Sweet Christmas, and new music videos from the album. I hope to gain some attention from the film festival circuit with my new video, “Safe and Warm (Lullaby for Jesus)” as well!
