♫ Indie Spotlight: Singer/Songwriter Wayne Brezz Shares His New Single “She Got It” + His Musical Influences

An Interview with R&B/Pop Singer Wayne Brezz as he prepares to release his debut EP “I AM”.

Multi-talented Houston artist Wayne Brezz is no stranger to great music. Counting Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross as favorites and even Ne-Yo (who we all know is a personal favorite of mine) it’s no surprise, when you listen to his songs that you can hear their soulful influence so very well.
Wayne Brezz brings that classic sound that’s missing in today’s music and adds a fresh twist that will definitely win him many fans, especially the ladies. He’s a talented singer and song writer.
I know I had to catch myself when he held a particular note in his latest single ‘She Got It’, featuring another up and coming artist, rapper Doughbeezy.

The singer, songwriter and dancer…yes, dancer (he’s toured with Usher world tour along with appearances on stage with Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, and Ciara) is ready to take it to the top of the industry and we’ll get a chance to ride that wave when his upcoming EP “I Am” is released this fall.

We got to vibe a little with Brezz in an interview for our Indie Spotlight Series. Check out his music and his thoughts below.

Describe your music for those who have never heard it.
I believe my music is a direct reflection of me. My sound caters to a modern day diverse audience from my pop songs to my R&B influenced tracks. My music is full of energy especially with my up-tempo songs and has deep sensual metaphors in certain moments. I think I have a little something for everyone.

Tell us about your new single “She Got It”.
My song “SHE GOT IT” Featuring Doughbeezy I think speaks for itself. I wrote this song after visiting Las Vegas this past summer and seeing one of the baddest chicks I have ever seen in my life.
When I got back to Houston I linked up with a friend named Kevin Adams (AK Muzic) from Germany and he made this song idea come to life with the songs dope beat. It was around the same time I heard a Houston hip-hop artist named Doughbeezy and I knew I had to get him on the track.

What inspired you to pursue music?
In middle school, I started writing poetry and at some point, started singing the poems and turning them into song lyrics. I was truly inspired by artists like Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross, Donny Hathaway, and the group Mint Condition. Nothing makes me feel the way music does. It’s like a drug to me.
What has been your greatest career accomplishment so far?
I think I’m most proud of the artists I have had the honor of opening up for: Juicy J, Bone Thugs and Harmony and DMX.

What has been your biggest challenge?
One of my biggest challenges has been the ability to balance my 9-5 life with my passion for creating and performing music. I think I figured it out.

Who is your favorite artist?
I’m going to have to say my favorite artist right now is Ne-Yo. I think his writing ability sets him apart from a lot of artist. I think he stays true to who he is, and doesn’t get drawn in to the Hollywood lifestyle. He’s a respected business man.

What’s your career goal for the upcoming year?

My goal for this year is to release my debut EP entitled “I AM” this fall 2014. Other than that, I want to continue making good music and meeting new fans and friends.
