Author Spotlight: Fearless Poets against Bullying By Ashley Love

Fearless Poets is not only a book series, but it is a movement of amazing individuals taking a stand on issues that are affecting our community and need to be brought to light.

National Bullying Prevention Month is set to begin just a few weeks away in October and there will be plenty of much needed awareness and attention focused on solutions and understanding.
Author Ashley Love is focused on bully prevention too but, it’s a year round focus for the mom of three who also counts “Bullying Advocate” as one of her roles.
Her new book Fearless Poets AgainstBullying” is an inspiration poetry compilation and the first in a series from people across the globe who are taking a stand against bullying.
We had a chance to chat with Ashley and learn a little bit about her and her new book as part of our Author’s Spotlight Series.

Interview w/Author Ashley Love
What inspired you to become a writer?
As a child, I know I was different than the other kids my age. While they asked for toys for Christmas, I asked for pens and journals.
Throughout my childhood, I have a profound love for writing, but as I entered adulthood people around me told me to give it up. They told me things like “writers don’t make any money” and “you will never make it as an author.”
For many years, I believed them. Then one day, I decided to make my dreams a reality and publish my first poetry book. I realized that if that book could touch one person’s life, it was worth it and my career went on from there.
Who is your favorite author?
My favorite author is a fellow poet and woman of excellence, Ms. Maya Angelou. Her poetry helped me push through on so many occasions and her passion motivated me to not give up.
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” , is one of my favorite quotes by THE Phenomenal, Maya Angelou.
What books have influenced your life most?
Honestly, the Bible has been my biggest influence and strengthens my relationship with God on a daily basis.
Describe Fearless Poets Against Bullying in 30 words or less :
Fearless Poets from as far as England and Africa and here in the US are speaking up with transparency on their experience with bullying and how it has affected their lives.
Why should we read it?
Fearless Poets Against Bullying is not only a book, but a movement that is speaking up on the epidemic of bullying that is taking over communities around the world. You will learn that bullying is not just a kids issue anymore and is being faced by adults as well.
No longer can we have the mentality that bullying is only happening in schools. It is happening in communities, the workplace, and even homes. The book will give you insight to the feelings felt by the Fearless Poets as they dealt with bullying in their own lives and how they overcame it.
