Q & A w/Hip Hop Artist Pop-A-Lot

What does your name mean?
Well I’m not too much sure of the meaning but my uncle would call me Pop when he first came home because no matter where he was I was also there at my young age so he would say “I popped up”  here and there to my family members.
After a while when he would see me he would begin to just call me Pop and the “A-Lot” got added on the way, really, by the homies.
Who is your favorite artist?
Magneto Dayo, Hollywood Mickey, Tru and Uno because they have been down since day one.
Describe your music for those who have never heard it.
Feel good Trap Music.I write for the people in the situations I been in and that might face what I’ve been through. From friends sent away for a lifetime in the Feds to others In the NBA and more so, I’m just trying to tell “My Story”.
What inspired you to pursue music?
My cousin Guy was my main inspiration, to tell the truth, I also had a cousin A.Z who was murdered in Brooklyn that guided me a lot and that’s who I do it for now.
Nothing felt better than when my cousin Guy, who started me with the music, called me and told me how proud he was of me when he saw my videos on Vevo next to A$AP, Chief Keef and T.I.
What has been your greatest career accomplishment so far?
This past year I lost my right hand man (Worm) and little brother (Hollywood Mickey) to the Federal prison system but, through it all, I was still able to make it on VIBE MAGAZINE, MTV EUROPE, VEVO, Livemixtapes and Dirty-Glove.com. I’m blessed to even be here.
What has been your biggest challenge?

Trying to just keep my focus and being totally independent bu,t that is also the best reward as we did it without any handouts. It feels good to see your hard work payoff.
