Q & A w/Hip Hop Artist Mace Milly

What does your name mean?
When the weapon Mace is used, it hits you within a split second instantly stopping you in your tracks and leaving you disoriented. My rap style is quick, hard hitting and full of word play making you pull the track back up again and again just to hear what I said. Milly comes from wanting a successful life for myself those closest to me. Milly = Millions.
Who is your favorite artist?
Being born in the 90’s, I’m really motivated by Pac. Such a lyrical poet spitting from the heart, I admire that. Even though I make a different style of music, he’s definitely one of my inspirations. I got a lot of respect for YMCMB. They started out as a small indie label and blew up to become one of today’s largest and wealthiest Hip Hop labels. Mad luv for that!
Describe your music for those who have never heard it.
I make club bangers. I’ve had my music played in nightclubs and strip clubs, heard them at house parties and in car stereos. I do this for the bass heads. It’s meant to set vibes and get the party going.
What inspired you to pursue music?
I’d always freestyle when I was younger with my homies. Anyone who knows me knows I loved that sh*t! I saw a lot of rappers really doing their thing and it really motivated and inspired me to pursue the dream.
My producer and long time friend, The LJ, decided it was my time to get in the studio and start recording professionally. We’re still a team to this day. Loyalty is a trait I respect.
What has been your greatest career accomplishment so far?
I’ve had the opportunity to network and collaborate with some of the game’s biggest artists. I’ve done songs with members of YMCMB and The Diplomats. The list goes on if we break it down from city to city.
This Fall I’ll be promoting my new EP titled “Destined To Be Famous” with a tour starting in September along side fellow Ottawa rapper Goliath PAW.
Also, my homie who goes by the name of BC will be joining me on this tour. You can hear him on our first single off the “Destined To Be Famous” EP. The track is called “Put Your Hands Up!”
What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge in the game so far is being a rapper from Ottawa, Ontario Canada. Ottawa is a city where Hip Hop has just begun to get love. I’ve done well making a name for myself and I plan on being one of the front-runners, one of the builders in the local scene. I’m confident my future is bright.
