Fashion Corner: Shia Douglas Debuts Her ‘Dymes Only’ Line For New York Fashion Week {Photos & Video} #NYFW

New York Fashion Week took over our city streets and galleries by storm, much like this actual on and off snow storm we’re having. The parties and shows just kept coming.

The fashion industry is a difficult industry to enter into because you have to be on point with the current trends, the next trends and figure out how to make yourself a trend.

When you get into the URBAN fashion industry, especially in NYC, all of what I said above is on fast forward because the trends can literally be day-to-day. Forget about Paris…NEW YORK fashion makes or breaks you as far as trends and what’s hot or not.

So, here we have newcomer Shia Douglas in the fold.

Her Dymes Only line made its debut on Valentine’s Day.

The show  was originally supposed to take place on Thursday 2/13 but, Mother Nature called a halt on that with yet another snowstorm.

Shia’s show was held at a gallery space called Openhouse on Mulberry Street in NYC and the building was filled with the love and support of her mom, her dad and her sister who many of you know as R&B singer, Ashanti.

There were also plenty of other celebrities in the house including rappers Juelz Santana and Maino, and even reality show star Kimbella from VH1’s Love & Hip Hop who walked in the show.

Also there to lend their support were Meeka Claxton from Basketball Wives 3 and urban designer Slow from SlowBucks who inked a deal with Mark Ecko.

BUT, the night belonged to Shia and Dymes Only.

I have to start with this picture because it’s my favorite outfit of the night. It’s just so dope.

I wouldn’t wear it but, I really could see young teen girls just flossing and looking adorable in it…so very teen vogue-ish to me.

I have some pics that I’ll post and all else I’ve grabbed from the nets and will credit appropriately.

This was the gift bag. My bag included a black Dymes beanie, a Madonna MDMA cd, 2 Blink eyeshadows, black plastic bracelet watches from Twenty Grand Vodka and a hair straightener kit from Beautiful Textures that I forgot to photograph.

Oh, the Ciroc was POURING…the whole night, from beginning to end.
